Injured Toyota LMP1 driver Kazuki Nakajima is aiming to be fighting fit for Le Mans 24 Hours and is recovering well after his crash during practice in the World Endurance Championship event at Spa.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing team has given an update on the ex-Formula 1 driver's health after he injured his lower back at Spa in a crash with Audi's Oliver Jarvis in wet conditions.

Nakajima spent several days in hospital in Belgium after the incident and has now been discharged and moved to Nice for further rehabilitation on a fractured vertebra.

Toyota also confirmed the driver is now able to move and walk freely.

Nakajima is set to spend time with the team's physiotherapist in Italy and is targeting a return to action in the number 1 Toyota TS040 Hybrid at the official Le Mans test day on 31st May, with the ultimate goal of competing in Le Mans 24 Hours (13-14 June).
