Nico Hulkenberg says he is already feeling at home in the Porsche 919 Hybrid as he prepares to make his Le Mans 24 Hours debut this weekend.
The Formula 1 driver made his LMP1 debut last month at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and fresh from the Canadian Grand Prix he is gearing up for his maiden Le Mans race alongside co-drivers Earl Bamber and Nick Tandy in the #19 Porsche 919 Hybrid.
The Force India F1 driver says he isn't targeting a specific finishing result and can't wait to experience the challenge of the blue riband event.
“I've got my first taste of the track during the test and I found it really cool,” Hulkenberg said. “You can get yourself driving in a great rhythm. I'm looking forward to the long stints in the race.
“I feel comfy in the Porsche 919 Hybrid in Le Mans, but I'll learn a lot more during the race week. Therefore I don't like to speculate about the outcome.
“My first wish is to do well over the distance, as this is the experience I want more than anything.”
The German will enter a special band of drivers who have competed at Le Mans alongside their Formula 1 commitments. Hulkenberg says he feels honoured to be offered the opportunity and will do his best for the German manufacturer before returning to Force India for the Austrian Grand Prix on the 19-21 June.
