Loic Duval believes Audi will have the measure of Porsche over a longer distance having been comfortably outpaced by its rivals during qualifying for the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours.
With Porsche locking out the top three positions, Audi follows up in 4-5-6 on the grid, with Duval's #8 car – which he shares with Lucas di Grassi and Oliver Jarvis – leading the trio of R18 e-trons.
However, though Porsche's searing single lap pace was largely expected having produced a similar level of performance during the opening rounds of the World Endurance Championship, Duval predicts Audi will be more of match in race trim.
“So far we are pretty happy. It felt quite good from the beginning. We had to bring some improvement in the set-up, but it was already much better here than at the free test, so the track is getting better and better.
“As we saw from the beginning of the year, we are not as quick as Porsche over a single lap, but over the race we are competitive. We have to do a perfect race and pit-stops.”
