Andre Lotterer has taken the lead of the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours for Audi after the second hour of competition.

With the hour beginning under safety car conditions after the #92 GT Porsche retired having caught fire at the end of the opening hour, the top six - led by Porsche's Timo Bernhard - got underway line astern and proceeded to jostle for position.

An enthralling, but clean fight, the top three off Bernhard, Neel Jani and Lotterer would streak away again through the traffic, with the latter pouncing with a daring pass on second up to the first corner, before snatching the overall lead in the Dunlop Curves.

Putting Audi in front for the first time, his joy would last only as far as the pit-stop though, the second waves of stops allow Porsche to snatch back the initiative and force Lotterer to do it all over again.

However, the German would do exactly that, making up the ground after the stops and grabbing the lead with ease on lap 30 just before the end of the hour to give Audi the new advantage. He now circulates comfortably ahead of the #17 Porsche and the #18 Porsche. Hulkenberg runs fourth in the #19 Porsche, after some fine passes that bely his lack of sportscars experience - ahead of #9 Audi and #8 Audi.

In LMP2, Oreca is 1-2 with KCMG and Thiriet by TDS, while Nicki Thiim heads up GTE Pro for Aston Martin and the SMP Ferrari is leading GTE Am now.
