Although a motor sport fan of many years, it was not possible for me to follow the 2012 Le Mans for the whole 24 hours so missed out on the unfortunate McNish crash. I did however witness the spectacular Toyota/Ferrari crash which appears to have been a similar occurrence. When trying to overtake slower cars, flashing lights are all very well, but what about the use of a "sound" warning mounted in every car that can be activated by the car attempting to overtake as is now common in the Dakar Rally ? The added expense involved could prevent future similar accidents that could have tragic results.
