Tonkov out for the season

Husqvarna's top factory MX2 rider Alex Tonkov has announced he's out for the season following his crash at the recent German GP at Teutschenthal. The Russian posted a photo of himself on Instagram from his hospital bed, saying: "Very disappointed to announce I'm out for the 2015 GP season. Today I'll have surgery on my shoulder. See you in 2016."

After winning his first GP moto a week before in Italy, Tonkov crashed out of the lead in Germany while battling with Tim Gajser. He's the latest in a line of riders to be injured in GPs this year. In the MX2 class, injuries have hit Jeffrey Herlings, Petar Petrov, Mel Pocock, Dylan Ferrandis and Ben Watson.

It's the MXGP class that's been most hit by injuries this season with riders like Tony Cairoli, Max Nagl, Clement Desalle, Ryan Villopoto, Tyla Rattray, Tommy Searle, Ken De Dycker, Kevin Strijbos and Dean Ferris all being affected.
