19 Grands Prix for 2016 including South Africa

The new motocross GP calendar is announced with more rounds than ever plus new long-haul venues
The toughening times in world motocross don't seem to have affected GP bosses Youthstream who have organised a record 19 world championship rounds for 2016 including a trip to South Africa.
The opener is in Qatar, then round two is yet to be announced but it's highly likely will be a long-haul race. The calendar then goes to Johannesburg in South Africa and Nuequen in Argentina before coming to Europe at a to-be-announced Italian venue. The British GP stays on its end of May date, and the series also visits Switzerland for the first time in many years. There are a total of three To-Be-Announced dates. But the series ends with a trip to Leon in Mexico then Glen Helen in California on September 11.
That means five long-haul GPs named - the same as this season as one of the Brazilian rounds was axed. But if round two is a long-haul race, as expected, it'll be a record number of expensive fly-away GPs that may teams will find tough to afford.
The MX of Nations is in Maggiora in Italy on September 25 - that's 30 years since it hosted the infamous US whitewash of the Motocross des Nations. The Junior world championship is in Russia on August 21 - hardly a cheap venue for most competitors to get to.
