Jeffrey Herlings will sit out the Latvian GP as he attempts to heal both his recently plated collarbone and his horribly split finger from the Swedish GP.

The two-time world MX2 champion announced his decision to stay off the bike for Kegums via his Twitter page

Although his lead is still a fairly strong 78 points over second place man Tim Gasjer, the possibility of losing a potential 50 points to the Slovenian if the Honda man has a double winning weekend could put Herlings title hopes in jeopardy.

Herlings was clearly frustrated with having to deal with another injury also Tweeted a comment about sharing misfortunes with Adan Cianciarulo.

Although no return date has been officially given for his return, the KTM star will be desperate to make it back to the line for Loket on July 26 to minimise the damage. Or could he lose out on a title two years running?
