Febvre closer to MXGP crown with double win

A stunning ride in the Czech GP sees French rookie Romain edge closer to the crown
Frenchman Romain Febvre took another big step towards winning the world MXGP championship with a stunning double win at Loket in the Czech Republic. The Yamaha man overhauled race leader Evgeny Bobryshev in the first moto to pull away to victory, as Suzuki's Clement Desalle held on to third place.

And second time out Febvre battled briefly with holeshot man Desalle before pulling away again. Desalle, making his comeback from injury, couldn't hold off Honda man Bobby who took second again leaving the Belgian with two third places.

Febvre hasn't been off the podium since round six in Spain. It's his eighth moto win of the year and fifth GP overall win. He's now 88 points clear of Honda's Gautier Paulin, who had a poor GP to finish only seventh following a spill in moto one when battling for third. World champ Tony Cairoli is third on points after missing the race with a broken arm.

Febvre said: “I'm so happy. Bobby was really fast at the beginning of race one until I made a move and pulled away. The second race was a good battle with Desalle - it was so hard and I love racing like that. I'm so relaxed when I ride and I hope it can continue like this. The next round is Lommel in the sand so I hope to go OK there."

Bobryshev said: "It was feeling great today. We made a lot of changes since yesterday so a big thanks to HRC Honda for doing it."

Clement Desalle said: "I was so happy to get the holeshot as it's been a long time. It was a good feeling to lead again after such a tough season."

Shaun Simpson has solid rides to take sixth place while his rival Tommy Searle had a tough day, peppered with crashes. Nathan Watson took tenth overall after smashing David Guarneri out of the way on the final lap of race one.
