Valentin Guillod is to move up to the MXGP class next season but stay with his Standing Construct Yamaha team. Currently just a MX2 squad, Guillod will be the Belgian team's first MXGP rider and will retain the services of top trainer Yves Demaria.

Swiss Guillod, who won three GPs this year on the YZF250F and is currently still in the chance of winning the crown despite a DNF at Sunday's Belgian GP, has to move up to the 450s as he's too old to stay in MX2 next season.

He said: "It is great to continue with Standing Construct Yamaha and also with Yves because at the end of 2012 he took the risk to train someone who wasn't so good and it turned out well. At the end of 2013 nobody wanted to sign me and only Tim Mathys of Standing Construct came and proposed a deal. We started this season from zero with the bike and now we are fighting for the title so it is really cool to be part of this team."
