Krestinov out after collarbone surgery

The Honda ace looks set to lose third in the British championship
Honda ace Gert Krestinov is out of action following an operation to fix a collarbone he broke over the weekend. The Estonian is currently third in the British MX1 championship, tailing leader Shaun Simpson and fellow Estonian Tanel Leok. It's not know how long he'll be out of action for, but is certain to miss the penultimate British championship round at Preston Docks on Sunday.

It's not been a good year for Dave Thorpe's Buildbase Honda team as their No1 rider Kristian Whatley has also missed several rounds due to injury. That left Krestinov as their team leader. Krestinov is 47 points in front of Martin Barr and 48 in front of Brad Anderson, but with 75 points up for grabs per round due to the three-race format, he could lose his third position.

The final round is at the sandy Fatcat track on October 4 so chances are he'll be ready to race there in a bid to hold onto third in the series. Krestinov, who once won a GP in the sand of Lommel, has been a regular visitor to Fatcat over the past few years and rides well there.
