Walker powers to Megawatt victory

Briton Jonny Walker added yet another win to his astounding run in which he has dominated every single extreme event in Europe this year. He's now won The Tough One, Hell's Gate, Romaniacs, Erzberg and now the infamously tough Red Bull 111 Megawatt event, Taddy Blazusiak's signature race in almost lunar landscape of the vast coal mine in Poland

Walker qualified in fourth in the prologue, but come the main race took the victory ahead of this year's perpetual bridesmaid, Graham Jarvis and Swden's Joakim Ljundggren.

But Walker didn't have it easy, starting behind Ljundggren before managing to squeze into the lead then losing it again as he fell. After that, Walker put his head down, regained the lead and put enough distance between himself and Jarvis, now in second, to take the win and yet another race conquered on the KTM.

“I'm made up with the win", said Walker. "It's exactly the result I was aiming for. After finishing second last year I really wanted to win badly today. To be honest I can't really fault my race too much. I got a decent start and tucked in behind Joakim on the
first lap. But it was so dusty, so I made a big effort to pass him and get into the lead. Shortly afterwards I crashed and dropped three places. Pushing hard to regroup I got back into the lead before the first refuel point starting lap two. After that I just tried
to ride my own race, avoid trouble and took the win.”

The final extreme race for Walker to sweep the entire extreme season will be the Red Bull Sea to Sky in Turkey, October 2-4.
