KTM's Cody Webb was able to take his second successive Endurocross title in Ontario thanks to smart riding and some poor fortunes for his rivals.

Webb had gone into the final round with a lead over Husqvarna's Colton Haaker and just needed to keep his head to taker the title. But in three action packed heats, the result was far from certain as Haaker took his heat win and claimed a bonus point to reduce Webb's lead to just nine.

Mike Brown and Jamie Lanza duelled in the second heat but Brown wiould land badly and leave the event injured before he got to the main. In the third heat, KTM stablemates Webb and Taylor Robert were pitched against each other and although Robert got the win it was discovered that the two leaders had done an extra lap.

The result reverted to the previous circulation where Webb had been leading, and he had the ten point cushion once again.

Come the final, it was Haaker that had his work cut out as a first turn crash saw his bike mangled and the Husky rider dead last. Kyle Redmond was out front but was soon caught by Webb and Robert who went on to battle the whole race ahead of a rapidly advancing Haaker.

Robert was able to create a gap and although Haaker got up to Webb, a mistake undid the advantage. Robert went on to win with Webb in second, enough to take the title, and Haaker in third.

“As far as the championship, I definitely felt a lot of pressure", said Webb. " But I knew I have been riding solid all year and made good decisions - it wound out in my favour tonight. I felt like I wasn't the fastest rider tonight but settling for second was OK because I won the championship."
