Chad Reed claimed third overall at the second round of the Amp'd Mobile World Supercross series at BC Stadium in Vancouver, ensuring that he remained in the thick of the fight for the title.
Having won the opening round of the series in Toronto, the Australian enjoyed a three-way battle with championship rivals Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart - who finished in that order - before settling for third to keep his points tally ticking over. However, after dominating heat one, Reed lost ground - and any realistic chance of round two victory - after a less-than-ideal start to the main event.
"I was in a great position right behind the leader and I was ready to battle, but it didn't happen," the Yamaha rider said, "I think it's maybe a good thing, though, at this point. I think, last week, we maybe did better than expected and this is a little bit of a reality check. The team is doing a great job and I am sure that we will be back on top in the not to distant future."
Reed entered the round as series leader after a spectacular opening round victory just a week ago, and remains in close check following the Vancouver result, occupying second place in the standings, just two points behind Carmichael, who added BC victory to second from Toronto.
The Amp'd series resumes at Anaheim in the New Year.
