MX1 Motocross world championship leader Antonio Cairoli heads into this weekend's Grand Prix of Germany having been outscored by nearest rival and reigning champion, David Philippaerts, for the last three rounds.

As a result, the two Yamaha-mounted Italians are now separated by 30 points at the top of the standings, with 50 available on Sunday.

However, it is third placed Max Nagl that the home fans will be cheering for, the KTM rider arriving at his home round after a perfect double win in France, which has moved him to within 13 points of Philippaerts.

Last year's German GP winner Josh Coppins is ten points shy of the Nagl on the second Monster Yamaha, with top Honda rider Clement Desalle just two points back.

A broken footpeg in the final Ernee moto took Teka Suzuki's Ken de Dycker off the podium and the Belgian has now dropped down to sixth in the series.

In the MX2 class, Germany will have a new rising star to support in the form of Ken Roczen. The 15-year-old only entered MX2 at Agueda, but already looks capable of winning a moto.

In terms of the championship fight, points leader Marvin Musquin has been unbeaten since his switch to Red Bull KTM two rounds ago and now holds a 34-point lead over Bud Racing Kawasaki's Gautier Paulin.

Monster Yamaha's Davide Guaraní is the top non-Frenchman in third, 15 points from Paulin.
