Lorenzo: Michelin progress positive

Jorge Lorenzo believes Michelin have turned a corner in discovering why they have fallen so dramatically off the pace of their rivals Bridgestone in recent races following two days of testing in the Czech Republic.

While rival Dani Pedrosa decided to curtail his test after a frustrating weekend of racing in Brno, Lorenzo chose to stay and work with Michelin in a bid to work through the issues currently facing the French tyre manufacturer.

Although Bridgestone still held an upper hand at the end of the two days, Lorenzo was pleased to have found additional pace compared to the race weekend, one that saw a Michelin runner finish no higher than ninth.

"These have been two positive days, because we've improved our performance a lot in comparison to the race at the weekend” he said. “However we can not forget that we are still far from where we want to be, so we can not give up.

“We have tried a lot of new things but mainly tyres with Michelin, and we have been able to find some tenths. Now we have to work with San Marino in mind, because we really need to change our situation there and have a good race, finally!"

The sentiment is shared with team manager Daniele Romagnoli, who believes Lorenzo can strive for a more successful weekend at Misano now.

"As planned yesterday, we have concentrated on testing rear tyres today following our work on the front yesterday. From all of the Michelin material we tested today, we have been able to find some improvements and now we hope that they can provide us with these tyres for Misano.

“We still have work to do but motivation in the team is still high for the final six races and everyone still has the same goal - to finish with some good races. We know that Jorge and the team deserve much better results than we had here in Brno, so we hope that we can turn things around in Misano."

Lorenzo was doing set up in the early part of the Qualifying Hour . The other riders got some qualifying when it was not pouring in the beginning. By the time he managed to go for qualifying it was already pouring and there were spots with water.. A little bit unpredictable weather. It was for this reason that the 2 riders were allowed to race. 12 seconds off the pace. Come on Lorenzos' got better pace than that. He had 3 pole positions at the beginning of the year and a win. Give the guy a break. What if all the Michelin riders get those special flown in before the race they can still race starting from the back of the grid and claw back some points from the not so good BS riders
