How can you say that? Stoner was a complete disaster before he struck gold with Ducati. He bounced back after he found a bike that matched his desires and not his overall talent. He made that Ducati 800 not 990 sing like no one else could. The Ducati brought Stoner straight to the top(not downing Stoner by no means). Melandri's first almost win on four wheels and now your saying he should stay there. Okay that's insane man. Remember he's a 250 champion and he was very good with the 990s. Ducati is a career breaker because of what they stand for. If Stoner hadn't faired well in 2007 they would have canned him too.

Marco, stick to cars mate, you're far better in them than you are on two wheels. Shame, as once you were pretty good but after a year at Ducati I question whether you really have the ability to bounce back.

It's a good job he's not riding if it's on a ZZ-RR!

There is something wrong with our sport when two top riders like Marco and Hopper are on garden leave, and yet there is room for Sete who hasn't ridden for two years. Guintoli, Nakano and others should never have gone as well.
Not sure about Biaggi though. :)

Couldn't agree more Twit, just goes to show you can never legislate for the unexpected!Despite the opinions of some Hopper and Marco are in MotoGP for a reason, and lack of ability isn't one of them,I think they've simply had some very bad luck with this situation.I'm sure they'll find a ride,if not this season, hopefully next.

I know it isn't the ideal situation but in my opinion a racer should ALWAYS be aiming for the podium. Hopefully he hasn't given up on the season before it even starts (assuming that they do run the bikes)

Melandri was not the 2004 250cc world champion. Dani Pedrosa was. Melandri was champion of 250cc in 2002. The author of this article also needs some classes in linking words. "However" is supposed to introduce contrasting information, not information that reinforces what was previously said!!!

Why even bother wheeling the kwaks out,the decision wasn't taken on financial grounds but the realization that they couldn't build a bike that could compete. Really feel sorry for both riders, but do either rider want to race for 18th and 19th position for a few races until someone decides to put a bullet between the eyes of the lame donkey what the kwak is.

Crying shame, don't forget how good he was before the Ducati on a Honda and an Aprilia, and another thing "Melandri was champion of 250cc in 2002" or Melandri was 250cc champion in 2002.

Malandri was truly outstanding in 2005 and if he had maintained that form into 2006 he could have taken the championship instead of Hayden. But with injuries and a bit of bad luck it wasn't to be and sadly his career has been in decline since then. I still think he's a quality rider and certainly worth another a ride but his chances of ever becoming the champion...well his 15 minutes of fame have been and gone. There are just too many talented, hungry young guns already here and a plethora banging on the door. Good luck anyway :)
