Well, this just goes to show where Toseland is right now. Even without going off-track he would have finished at the back of the field. This was one of his better tracks, if his confidence doesn't improve soon, he will be a regular finisher in last place.

I personally think that every rider is only human and they will have their dark moments like we all have some times.
JT is just another rider who is having a hard time right now and is very much underachieving. He might not be champion material, but then again... only a few riders will be blessed with the talent Rossi, Stoner or Lorenzo have. This doesnt mean they don't deserve a place in this championship. I'm sure that when JT will regain his confidence he can be a very good 'middle-man' like Vermeulen has been for example.
Marco has been going through the same s**t the last few years, but is about to get back to his former level. I think he can be a solid top 5 rider and add a few wins.

This sort of article is completly pointless, its a speculative assesment based on figures which occured in completly different circumstances from the proposed situations. It's as usefull as the assesment that if depuniet would have finished where he qualified in each of the races last year, he'd have been 7th in the title.

Theoretical analysis with no real statistical base which has just opened up another thread of lets all slate JT.

Totally agree with you Stuart. Utterly useless article. Crash, the season has started and you don't need to print any more of this kind of garbage.

The article does seem pretty pointless, that said it does make depressing reading for fans of JT - the fact that he would in all likelihood finished 16th even without his off-track excursion. It seems as if he is running to stand still - he must do something to recover soon or his season could be a very slippery slope for him. The thing we must remember is that all the guys out there are super-fast. It is no disgrace to be at the back of that pack but JT is used to being near the front.... All I can do is wish him all the best for the season.

Very interesting. Those that says its pointless seem a little dim. Comparing qualfiying and race positions is a world away from removing one bad race lap and getting an idea of potential race pace. A lot of teams do it to judge their potential.

Melandri is doing very well. The fact his outright best lap was 14th is a little worrying but the fact he was able to beat 'faster' riders by dealing out those laps consistently is a great sign!

There is no doubt JT is having a tough time, his qatra pace confirms it, but he hasn't forgotton how to ride. Don't write him off.

Nifty Nev, you could be right, and it'd probably be a beneficial move for their management, if Burnett still manages both that is.
