Catalunya was a good race but Casey only won because of his huge top speed advantage. He was overtaking without a slipstream. He came down the extreme right side of the track to keep Rossi from outbraking him after he over took. Rossi's top speeds were in the draft Casey's were alone fighting the wind under the power of the bike. Everybody who likes or hates Stoner knows he doesn't have the nerves for the head games Rossi dishes out in the corners. Gibernau was pretty good at fighting back with Rossi. Those were great races.Casey is fast but he and Pedrosa are more of get away quick at the beginning and please don't pass me guys. They can't function against variables.

The unique Qatar MotoGP night race produces images not often seen in the daytime - in this case Valentino Rossi’s carbon front brake discs glowing red hot as he approaches a corner.

Yes, it's something unique for us to see but this article should have spilled more details like lap, pace and causes for that red hot glow on the front disc brakes :p

And you know guys, Rossi has been nominated for the 2009 Laureus World Sportsman of the Year. Let's all wish him the good luck :)

Unfortunately Casey was travelling way too fast for them to take a good enough picture, so they had too make do with 2nd best - hence #46 appears. :) :) :)

This does not add up at all. There was God alone knows how many gazillion watts of power illuminating that track and it was as bright enough for those guys to race. The implication of this article is that because it was at night we can see this glow because it was darker. I don't buy it that this is why we can see the glow. I bet there are dimmer light conditions when races are run under grey skies in the day time.
None the less it is a good shot and great race.

If his front brake weren't blocked he would have easily won the race :p

Yes they do. just the front though, not the rear.
And in the rain races they change them for steel discs because they are to agressive and don't get up to working temperature in the wet.

Ah, so maybe if I paint James' brakes red like Rossi's bike, he'd get that performance boost I promised him last year. Thanks for the nice picture Dorna!
