Sorry but this guy is yesterdays news. He spent 3 winless seasons in MotoGP. He was clearly the number 2 rider to Capirossi when was in the factory Ducati MotoGP team and did little to impress on the RC211V, a proven package. Sounds like a courtesy ride to me. Another world superbike champion who underperformed in MotoGP. If this is Ducati's hope to improve the desomsedici, I'm afraid they will be disappointed.

e.kemper, yep it's hard to believe if Ducati knew what to do that they would not be doing it! there is a manufacturer's championship and the team champs to think of. i think it is too soon to write off any of these guys. they're all good and the GP9 may still come good for hayden yet. maybe he should put that leopard dye job back in his hair! he's looking far to GQ these days. oh and to all the '250 riders needed camp' capirossi, melandri, ellias none successful with the GP 8 or 9 but with 3 250 world champs between them. kinda makes ya wonder?

Hes won a single race in a few years of motogp, and that was on a 990, which was better for the superbikers to ride.

He won championsips on the capacity rich ducati superbike

Now you think hes going to be magical on an 800? Something multiple world superbike champions haved achieved nothing on?

Hey RawDawg You say troy isn't exactly a 250 racer, but he did race the 250's back in austrailia.
And he also got a 250GP wildcard ride at phillip island and surprised everyone, with his qualify lap on a bike that was considerd rubbish, and did well in the race too!
He Shocked everyone when he made a guest appearence on the motogp ducati back in 2006 and won!
And he had never even raced that bike until then!
The bikes have changed a hell of a lot since then, but lets all wait and see how Troy gets on with the test and see what input he can give!
He may even Get a guest ride in a race?
It is Troys lightening starts off the start grid that always shocked me! :)

Ferret,

Shocked you perhaps, but shocking everyone else, perhaps not. That ducati should have won the championship, if it wasnt for Gibernau taking out half the field, and his team mate in the prcoess earlier in the year.

I remember watching that race, i thought it was curtains for Marco Melandri in that accident!
Yet it was nasty all round for those involved!
Goes to show that the protection the riders wear is doing it's job!

RE: ag
I never stated anything about engine size I am however not stupid and quite aware there has been a change in rules I was making the statement that Hayden will never win on a duke (or any other bike) in motogp and Bayliss has.
RE: edward Kampy
read my post again thicko, I said he was 9 seconds infront of hayden not 9 seconds in front of the field
so please get your facts sorted before you spout off a load of "karp"

man is this place full of the hard of thinking or what!

Troy is without a doubt one of my most favorite riders due to his determination and talent. I believe that Ducati gave him a raw deal when he rode in MotoGP because the 990 bike was developing and he was giving it his all. His one off win is proof of that. But while he can provide some input I'm not sure he'll be able to solve the problem until Ducati starts designing the bike for other riders not just Stoner. Stoner is no genius contrary to his fanboys opinions. The key is revising the traction control and other rider aides that Stoner trusts implicitly. Other Ducati riders obviously don't.
