Sorry but this guy is yesterdays news. He spent 3 winless seasons in MotoGP. He was clearly the number 2 rider to Capirossi when was in the factory Ducati MotoGP team and did little to impress on the RC211V, a proven package. Sounds like a courtesy ride to me. Another world superbike champion who underperformed in MotoGP. If this is Ducati's hope to improve the desomsedici, I'm afraid they will be disappointed.

I'll be interested to see the outcome of the Bayliss test. Judging from some of the comments I've read from Tardozzi, Troy's set-up requirements are quite unique and won't be of much value to Stoner, Hayden or the satellite boys.
What they will be hoping Bayliss can help with is power delivery characteristics to help resolve Haydens high-side / rear grip problems.
Whilst Ducati persevere with an even firing order motor to try to gain an advantage over Rossi, the riders (with the exception of Stoner who seems to have a greater level of control) will struggle for grip against the big-bang Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki & Kawasaki.

Old fart indeed what a moronic post. Joey Dunlop was still beating the young ones when he was 49. I've no doubt whatsoever when the old man go's out for his 2 days trial he will (weather permitting) set a much better time than Hayden one of the very few WCs who should never have been WC :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

seems to me there is a lot of reading between the lines going on here, Troy was always going to get a go on the GP9 as part of his winding down year, this is a PR excercise and some fun, but a whole lot of folk put all of this rescue-Ducati spin on it, forget it.

Put a decent rider on the bike and it goes fine, Sete is getting fit and in a few more outings will be up there, unfortunateley Nicky doesn't have what it takes, get used to it.

And as for comparing lap times, unless you are together, same time same place, same weather, same track temperature, same rubber on the road, times mean nothing.

Finally, "bebe" you are a real dikc-head for demeaning one of the best, grow up.

Bayliss used to angle grind steering head stops off so he could back it into the corners super crossed up. Now with all these nancy boy aids like TC and the like, you want get to see Bayliss at his best as it doesn't happen anymore in MotoGP. Ban all aids and get the bikes moving again ffs. Bayliss #1 in 2010!!

Troy is the perfect rider to test and comment on the bike. The reality is Ducatis suite certain styles of riding and without a doubt he is a Ducati rider. He always said he would still test for Ducati so dont read too much into that. When you watch Stoner you can see he rides the bike in the same way Troy did ragged but bloody fast and Ive no doubt Troy will produce fast times. To say hes past it hmm wsbk reigning champ and oh yes last person to win on a 990 dont think his credentials need questioning! The bike just works for certain riders full stop just take a look at some of Mamolas times on the two seater and you get the idea!

FR,Troy one of the best in your eye maybe, but 1 of the most over rated mgp rider in my eye. he all talk no walk ala JT. Maybe if he was to make a come back Troy and JT can hold hands at the back of the grid, were they can talk about the good old days in wsb.
