Sorry but this guy is yesterdays news. He spent 3 winless seasons in MotoGP. He was clearly the number 2 rider to Capirossi when was in the factory Ducati MotoGP team and did little to impress on the RC211V, a proven package. Sounds like a courtesy ride to me. Another world superbike champion who underperformed in MotoGP. If this is Ducati's hope to improve the desomsedici, I'm afraid they will be disappointed.

A great character no doubt, but probably agree with the comments about his style being of no use to any other particular rider. From a spectator pov, he was never the tidiest rider, but very animated and appeared to muscle the bike around more than most which could go either way with the 800.Very interested to see.Another question,if you were Mr Ducati, would you prefer the possible glory of the makers championship over the riders championship? No me neither. In the big picture it's like the 'Miss Fundraiser' award that the ugly chick gets as encouragement at the beauty contest. So while they aim to help the other riders, there's no way they'll abandon Stoner. Honda's ready with their chequebook.

Bayliss, aka Gas Gas. 3 TIME WORLD SBK CHAMPION!

He is a legend, winning the last of his titles at age 39!

Will be interesting to see what he can do with the Ducati. Hope the test is productive...

"Bob" yes I think you're right about the manufactures championship, Ducati couldn't care less, I reckon they maybe trying to get more bikes in the top 10 or better still the top 5 to help Stoner.

Gibers, Baliss etc appear to use fairly "middle of the road" set ups that other riders can use.

Hmmmm

Stoner graduated from 125s and 250s
Kallio graduated from 125s and 250s

Hayden graduated from superbikes
Canepa graduated from Superbikes

Bayliss graduated from superbikes

Kallio and Stoner doing OK, Hayden and Canepa not so well

Perhaps something to do with the riding style. Perhaps thats why they've bought Mr Bayliss back in to give some feedback from that perspective ..... possibly

Or perhaps its more down to more hands equals less work

Whatever, its be great to see him guest at some point :)

good news but dont expect miracles the bike is so tech geared has mentioned by melandri last year that they need to workout how riders get around the trick bits.has bayliss has proven on a duke there's not many better.but when you look at the calibre of rider's capi melandri and now it seems hayden that couldnt get use to them there's not much hope.say's a lot though of moaner's tech input or maybe lack of.

All these hype due to BS only use Rossi version tires this season. The crap tires disease has plaque BS similar to Michelin in the past. With Stoner version, at least another Ducati rider will stand on the podium too beside Stoner.

Why can't Ducati ask Bayliss to ride GP9? Bayliss was linked to Ducati for a long time. I don't mind if they call Fogarty and Checa to ride GP9 too.

You all armchair experts way to far off your own reality. It must be your parents cut-off your pocket money due to the current financial crisis. Get a job. Your brain will worth nothing here without experiences,

Bob B - I hear what you are saying but I think Ducati are playing a very risky game putting all their eggs in one basket. If Stoner were to get badly injured in one of the next few rounds then Ducati face the possibility of finishing last in the constructors and team championship and certainly out of the top 10 in the riders WC. They desperately need a strong 2nd rider in the factory team to support and take some of the weight from Stoners shoulders. I don't think people appreciate the pressure he his under. :p

Now i know that english is probably not your native tongue some1, but my god i didnt understand a word you just said. I think bayliss will do better than any of the other duke riders bar stoner at the test, i wish he would race it full time, but even before he retired he said he'd never go back to racing gp's again, because of the hectic schedule if not for anything else.
