It is still amazing how he does it time and again in just a handfull of laps.
Where others grind away at it Stoner just comes in and slams it down.
Let's see how it develops over the weekend.

MOTOGP » Stoner second despite 'three laps'

Casey Stoner only completed a handful of laps on a comfortable set-up before rain arrived, just after the midway point of Friday free practice at Le Mans, but it was enough for the Ducati Marlboro rider to clock a close second fastest time, 0.058sec behind Repsol Honda’s Andrea Dovizioso.

I think Casey will be strong this weekend once he gets some more laps in. I don't think poor ol' Nicky will fair much better than he is now - but I hope so. I don't see a new crew chief and new electronic package helping straight away the first weekend.

For want of a better description, Casey is sadly lacking domination...

Stoner can't be faulted for being extremely quick almost all of the time. There is some fantastic, innate skill at work here.

Rumour is that HRC are looking at signing Stoner for 2010, I for one hope he jumps ship.
That Ducati is a pile of ****e, yes he's had good results on it but I don't think it's the most consistent bike on the grid.
He wouldn't have to worry about competition from other riders on the Duke looking at the last couple of years.

Stitcho, how does that work? Does Pedrosa leave if he doesnt win the champinship? There was also a rumour that Lorenzo would replace Pedrosa in 2010, isnt it funny how now that Honda admit they have problems there theres riders lining up to them...

Why in the world would Stoner leave Ducati? He's by far and away the #1. And being that he's the only one that can ride the thing surely he can charge a king's ransom to stay. It must have a certain allure to ride for the company that has the most power and resources in GPs in Honda.

Stoner is in an unbelievably advantageous position with his employer.

In recent history no one has had any notable AND consistent success on the Ducati, except Stoner. And in the grand scheme of the last couple of years he's been overwhelmingly good on that bike.

At this point Stoner must have a significant ability to demand an impressive salary and have things done according to his liking.
