MOTOGP » Hayden, Kallio clash leaves one out, one damaged

Mika Kallio’s attempt to overtake factory Ducati rider Nicky Hayden - or 'a much slower rider' as Pramac Ducati technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini called him - ended in disaster when the MotoGP rookie hit a wet patch and fell, forcing Hayden off track in the process.

Did Kallio expect Hayden to move over and let him by?

This is racing, you defend your position, you pass when you can safely. Kallio, rookie mistake, don't blame Hayden.

Typical Euro cry-baby excuse: "I foolishly got on the damp part of the track with slicks and fell, running into Nicky...sorry" would have been a man's comment.

A slower rider huh? Miko, maybe you should qualify better.

The differce in speed was due to Kallio pitting 3 laps before Hayden. Kallio's tires were up to temperature and Hayden's were not. Hayden's next full lap after the contact was .5 of a second quicker than Kallio's last.

I can not understand how a much slower rider was able to be in front of my Pramac Rookie. Perhaps the red target on the side of Nicky's bike will continue to draw attention of the much faster riders behind him. Mika is able to do very well when the other riders are slower and behind him at the "Finnish" line, otherwise he has some difficulty.

I think next week LCR Honda or the Rizla Suzuki will take a crack at Hayden.

If Hayden had been up the front of the pack like he is supposed to be then he wouldnt have had to worry about Kalio! He will be back on the flat tracks soon!!!

So, Mika's fastest lap of the race was a 1'43 on lap 11, while Nicky's was 1'47 on colder tires. Eventually, Nicky was lapping in the 1'36s. All weekend, Nicky was about 0.5 second faster than Kallio. Sounds like a bit of sour grapes. What is up with the rookies this year? Do they know how to race properly? And how did Nicky become a rookie crash magnet? Not only did Mika have this incident, there was a near miss, rear-packing by Takahashi again in T2! Anyone who's been on a track in competition knows: You initiate an overtake when you know you can complete it safely and quickly.

"And how did Nicky become a rookie crash magnet?"... very simple: He cannot go faster.

It may be bad luck, but this happens when you're in the middle of the pack.

After 4 Rounds I can already see the "melandri 2008" RELOADED. No miracle will happen.

B. Andy buuuahaha... true, true. Finally Hayden fans will understand that people crash trying to avoid park-point&shoot Hayden. This is actually the fourth time in motogp career. More than club racers (and THAT is scary, crash fest,stuff)buuuahahaha...

Say it time and time again.Hayden will suck on the duc.Not because the duc is a bad bike, just that Hayden was on the all mighty Honda.A bike Honda believed anyone could win.And well they did have a point! buauuauahahah.
