Nice going for Stoner, try winning it the next six years! :p
Rossi said it would be difficult to win again, under these circumstances I'm sure he remembered the Le Mans race and wanted to be sure to finish and collect the points. A podium is good, the season still long.

Go Vale!! :) :p

Awesome ride by Casey, what a first lap even though it ultimately had little bearing on the outcome of the race. Sixth or seven in the first corner to first at the same corner on the next lap. Not bad for a rider who supposedly can't "mix it".

But even leaving Stoner aside, George put one over on his team mate yet again, I think this is realistically the championship battle. Yes Casey is in front at the minute and immense credit to him, it will truely be a stunning achievment if he does win the title this year. But the Ducati is plainly so far behind the Yamaha as a package that you'd still have to fancy one of the factory Yamaha riders for World champ.

The wet/dry conditions hurt Ducati because the GP9 seems to burn up wet rubber more quickly. For Stoner to win, at Mugello no less, shows what a massive threat he is this year.

Great job by all and congrats to Mr.Stoner on his hard earned victory.
It is the same for everyone, but I hate to see "rain races" all year become too much of a factor.
It makes the title a real "crap-shoot".
Enough rain, and perhaps Melandri will win the title this year? While I would enjoy that,I don't think his bike is all that good?Marco is showing the heart of a lion,I must say.G.F.

Morgue, for a guy who comes across as fairly intelligent and mostly even handed, you sometimes do a terrible job of hiding your irrational bias towards Rossi.

I thought you said you were above fanboyism? Might wanna rethink that claim.

Congrats to Casey, and Jorge after a confidence rattling pre-race excursion. Tough break for Rossi, but all good things must come to end. He's still got a few more tries left in him. I feel bad for Melandri after such a great start.

No response yet from some of the more regular and vociferous contributors.

Wonder why, bet this thread would have run to several pages by now if the g.O.A.T had won it!!!!!

Why do u Rossi fans think that Stoner's ducati is far behind Yamaha???man let me tell u, that Ducati is far better than the Yamies! and Guess what Ducati now knows what they really need to beat Yamaha, last time Stoner failed to win in Le man it was his crew mistakes n he was mad at them, now they made it work in muggello under rain, do u think Rossi n Lorenzo can keep the pace of that Ducati in Catalunya?mark me word mates, Stoner gonna win 2009 WC! Stoner 4 Life!!!1111 :)
