When Rossi loses , it's never because another rider is better than him that day...it' s always the tires, the weather, the stars...

Fiat Yamaha has defended its decision to send Valentino Rossi out on a hard compound front slick, which looked to cost the Italian his eighth home Mugello victory in a row.

Waz, you are overreacting and if you re-read my post you'll see that I was not having a go at Stoner. It shows that 'people like you' (to paraphrase you) ignore the facts and use the forum to have an arguement. I used two riders as an example to show that races like this throw up wierd events. We all know that that the best riders will finish near the front regardless of conditions, as you rightly pointed out, but the race itself was something of a farce. Perhaps you were just tired.

@ bladeo. :? You mention Coyote and then replied to the three points that were made by me. I still defend my view that races like this are a lottery. I was pleased when the single make tyre rule was made, thinking that it would make the racing closer. How wrong was I, and having pitstops to change tyres mid race.......I might as well watch F1.

oops... I was replying to you Codger... I'm a codger myself.
I agree that races such as these increase the chances for other riders, but I think that regardless of conditions or rules or even to a certain extent a bikes potential - the cream always rises to the top.
I think we have four guys simply better than the rest, with Dovi nipping at their heels.

TC honda introduced a first tc on motogp bike back to the end of 99, was a primitive one, for the electronics I just remember that the last electronic devices are always carried to yamaha first, Marelli is FIAT property. About software did you believe that in all Japan they do not have people able to write the right software ? Do you think that Toyota beside the engine has not carried also the electronics ?

Wow, does anyone know how long ago fiat bought Marelli?? I know that Fiat only started sponsoring Yam last year and yet have been partnered with ducati many years... nothing like a bit of speculation... The only thing I do know is that ducati are pushing the envelope with carbon and 20 odd thou rev limit..

Bladeo, no problem. :)
I am a fan of racing and always have been, I don't mind who wins. When I say 'racing', I mean the process of one rider trying to beat another. Engine performance long ago outstripped tyre performance, and I am fed up with tyres dictating who has a good race, and who doesn't. Weather conditions like this just make the tyre situation worse.

Incidently, if I have to admit to supporting any rider, then this year it is Dovi.

If Bridgestone supplied an intermediate/cut slicks tyre then we might have had races without pitstops for the last two races... it's crazy they only have slicks and full wets. The new tyre rule starting in Barcelona is even more rediculous.

I too don't really mind who wins, but i have my favourites. I'm a long time Rossi supporter but I'm a big supporter of Stoner, mainly due to all the flack he cops. He sure is fast though, just doesn't yet have the mastery of race craft that Rossi posseses... then there's Lorenzo, Dovi, Danni... they're all hero's to me!

Magnetti Marelli? Ducati uses version 3 while Yamaha uses version 4. Yamaha is a technical marvel of electronics. With the duc a close second. with regards to engine, Yamaha uses more F1 technology, while duc uses antique desmo. hehehehe

Zydon has a point. Rossi might have been using too much electronics (NOT JUST TC) to manage the race itself. When conditions are perfect, it easiest bike to ride. But the changeable weather exposes the limitations of such programming. Imagine a system that can compute just how much TC to apply in this corner, or just how much fuel to burn in this corner exit, or what kind of engine braking to apply in this braking area.

However, such kind of system easily be messed up by the changeable weather.

If such system really exists, and we can find evidence that rossi uses it, then Rossi fans are right all along..

"The weather made Rossi LOSE."

But whose fault was that?

Some candidates
The rainmaker
The Race winner
The commentator
The race steward

I cant think of anyone else, Rossi fans wouldnt allow me to blame the GOAT.
