For Samas.

Yes, I agree that they only have one thing in common. And Marco does have talent. But Nicky has a MotoGP Championship (luck or not). At the end of the day and years down the road, he will always be a World Champion.

MOTOGP » Hayden '09 mirrors Melandri '08

Nicky Hayden scores exactly the same points as struggling Ducati predecessor Marco Melandri, when comparing same five rounds.

Worry not. Hayden will find his way to go faster on Ducati. He just need a familiar ground where he can analyze the characteristics of the GP9 more accurately.

I wonder how a nutcase like Anthony West would do on the Duc. He's cheap and crazy enough to ride the bike through all the **** it tries to throw at him. And he's an Aussie too. Might just work.

Wow hope marco can see the funny side now.

Stoner has Ducati by the balls. They may as well hand over a blank check and let him fill it in.

Honestly, all three situations are different. First, in 2007, the Ducati was simply the best bike out there. They carried an additional liter of fuel. So, 07 was a gift year for Stoner because Rossi tried to take a crap bike on crap tires to chase him. Not only that, but Stoner/Capirossi both tested the bike extensively and it was developed after its race winner (Stoner) but had characteristics familiar to Capirex, including tires! Melandri swapped over. Again, a ton of testing time, familiar with tires and talented to boot! Contrast that now, less fuel, less test time, new control tire, less FP sessions. We all know Hayden needs seat time. He'll figure it out at Assen (a track he loves).
