Dovizioso needs more experience before he threatens for a win. Currently he is not at the level of Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo, or his teammate Pedrosa. But he is still better than most of the rest of the field. He is definitely in the next tier of riders behind the "contender four"

Right now is is a good #2 rider on the Repsol team. He has the potential to be a championship contender, but it isn't this year. To be passed on the last lap by your teammate one race, then fail to pass a guy near collapse today, maybe he needs to get a little more aggressive.

I'm torn.

On the one hand Dovisioso did ride a very good race.

On the other Stoner was near collapse and hanging in by balls and grit to hold Dovisio off 'til he passed the chequered flag and Dovi couldn't get round him.

I've a sort of suspicion that when Dovi does get his 'Repsol Honda podium' (is that sort of like an M&S podium?) chances are it'll be because he's done another sound, workmanlike job whilst one or more of the top three * ****-up and let him through by default.

* not 4 cos Dani t D won't be in contention for a while - he needs to recover before he does permanent damage.
FFS he'd better sit out Assen at least.

Dovi seemed pretty happy to have missed out on the podium at the end :?

Dovisioso had an easier job to do than Rossi. He missed out on a golden opportunity to be on the same podium with the other two great riders . I guess Stoner was just not going to let the Championship get away. He held his ground very well even though he was sick. I guess he needs to see The Doctor.

In the Race we could see that Rossi was willing to Bin it at the last lap. Dovi should have done the same thing. Not like he has the Championship to risk. He caught up from 1.7 seconds down.

I don't dislike the lad but, if he couldn't do it this time, I'm dubious that he'll ever do it.
He might be the type that needs that one win to open the floodgates. Here's hoping.

Dovi still doesn't have the "brilliance of the moment". He is very constant, but "that" something extra makes these guys champions.

Lorenzo, Rossi, Stoner, Dani all have this gift.

Anyway, good ride from Dovi. He is over the average.

Time! Thats all this lad needs. He will do more with the factory bike over the next 2 years than Pedrosa has done so far.
The guy is a racer, not a time trials rider!
:) :) :)

LOL, not sure what you guys are smoking saying he's not agressive enough. Check the championship standings, he's ahead of his teamate so he is technically the #1 repsol rider. He's doing the right thing keeping it upright and finishing the race at this stage, the wins will come in time as he gets more experience.

Stoner rode a hell of a race and Dovi couldn't challenge Lorenzo or Rossi on this day. 4th is great.
