Yet another story trumpeting the wild optimism of Nicky Hayden. Forget about those other stories folks, THIS IS THE STORY WE NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO!

* Great communication between teams - Nothing.
* They made adjustments to the bikes geometry - Nothing.
* New Crew Chief - Nothing.
* Great testing times, a break through! - Nothing.
* Nicky loves Assen - Nothing.
* Nicky loves Laguna Seca - Nothing.
* Blah blah blah - Nothing.
* Blah blah blah - Nothing.

No false alarms this time Crash.net readers, oh no, NOT THIS TIME! This is it! Assen will begin Nicky's domination of MotoGP and the '09 championship. ALL HAIL NICKY!

MOTOGP » Hayden looks forward to 'special' Assen

Nicky Hayden’s great relationship with the Dutch TT took a hit at the end of last year’s race, when he ran out of fuel within sight of the finish line, but he still regards Assen as a special circuit.

We shall see. Assen is certainly a track Hayden likes and actually does well. Podium no doubt, oh but wait..Hayden was on the horrible honda. Guess now on the great duc, Hayden will surely win!!! At least podium!

If Hayden does not finish within the top 5 or worse, the top 10...

How ever much 'Hayden-bashing' goes on here, you have to at least admire that he's still keeping his optimism in times like this. Look back to Melandri, who with a hell of a lot more testing time than Hayden, was really downhearted at this time in '08, although I admit that there are more details now appearing of problems within Ducati last year.
Let's just wait and see what he can do at some of his favourite tracks coming up where he's gone well in the past, and maybe things will pick up there a little with more track time.

I saw that too. It was amazing how Spies, who was on hot slicks was able to blow past shakey on destroyed full wets while on a dry track. i couldn't believe it. Never would have guess that slicks are better in the dry.

I'm a spies fan, but let's compare apples to apples, for chrissakes.

fanofthesport,

He passed him on the wet line, Shakey was on the dry line. Even the annoying Eurosport announcers said something about it. I never would have guessed slicks work on a damp track.

@Nitro

I must have missed something, I thought Johnny Rea & Ben Spies were the hero's of Misano???

If you're having a crap season I guess 1st place loser in one race is what you have to hang your hat on.... If only it could rain at every round.

And if they were going to bring up a sbk Duc rider why would they choose the 4th best Duc on the grid - that is 4th best by 12 points with Laconi missing SIX :-o races. Yeah that's the hero they're looking for.
