Dawg, I've rarely responded to your flag waving american sentiment and your posts are usually resonably balanced. But, how much longer do you really believe Edwards deserves in the series when he has clearly reached the extent of his ability? Few riders get his opportunities and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's bored with him languishing mid-pack on a bike that I believe should do better. If you think my comment is overstated, mate, I've barely started!
btw, I don't dislike him at all, I just think if he delivered half as well as he talks himself up, he'd be the one going for his 101st win and not Curlylocks.

There are only 3 players in this field at the moment, the rest are grid fillers.
If you wanted to find the best riders then you'd have a grid full of the same bikes.
This sport is a win at all costs game. Bring whatever you can to the grid with the best rider you can afford, nothing equal about it. Just look at the budgets.
Rossi 30M just to get out of bed, other teams run a whole year on a 3rd of that.
So long as they keep the racing happening and televise it I am happy. Keeps my dreams alive.
As for you armchair racers, well, armchair.. nuff said!

Bob

we know you don't Edwards but to say he is doing nothing is a bit overstated. He's clearly the best nonfactory rider this year (even in front of both Suzukis and 3 points from being in front on both Hondas) and his results in points, races, and qualifying proves this. Results are fact - not opinion.

Also tighter tracks like Laguna, that prevent the better bikes from stretching their legs all the way, also help play a role in equalizing things. And Verm has podiumed at Laguna a couple times. Was stomping the field with a big gap to 2nd for most of the race in 2006 if I remember right.

Tangled mess - if it's the slow riders with nothing to lose that go to the front in wet races, then how come Rossi was gapping the field badly in 2005 at Donnington? He looked like he was on a dry track while the others were on a wet track! How come Stoner did the same in 2007 at Le Mans (may have been 2008, can't remember)?

Wet tracks allow the slower, less powerful bikes to run higher up than usual because the better bikes can't use their power advantage. With all the electronics and stuff now it's probably not as big an equalizer as it was in the past, but I think it still plays a role.

Bob relax.

If I am in minority then I'm in minority but still entiteld to an opinion so not sure why your using big letters.

Let me explain my response a bit better:

You said 'failing dismally' which I dont agree with. The use of the word dismally is what i didnt agree with.

Note I didnt defend JT (my no1 rider) in my statement only Colin.

its not that the suzuki is a bad bike , in fact it is quite a good bike , its just that the guy has not a clue how to set it up,(note improvement when caparossi started riding it),if burgess and rossi had it they would win races with it ,no problem, suzuki give the team what they ask for ,suzuki can build a good bike , sure spies was outperforming them and he was only on it for a few hours ??? not years

JT2, you would be the minority my friend. Because Edwards has done N O T H I N G on one of the best bikes with the best support in the field bar none and don't forget that includes his factory ride! Face it, he never had it and he never will! I don't dislike the yanks, I'm just stating the obvious.
Tangled Mess, you make some points that are hard to dispute. Cheers.
