This coverage misses what Kenny Roberts, Wayne Rainey and Eddie Lawson said about the whole thing. Those guys were the great champions of the past and should not be treated as mere backstage decor for Rossi. I've found that a bit disrespectful.

Was it a race or not? And if it wasn't a race why was it timed? Were they just suppose to ride around in there nice Yamaha drivers suit or were they racing for real or just having a laugh?

That is a kick a55 amout of talent in that photo.

Awesome photo. Rossi was using Lawson's TZ-250 powered kart, while everyone else was running motocross inspired YZ-250 karts.

Great event guys, good to see such sportsmanship...but...why wasn't Schwantz there and why as KR let himself get so fat?

in answer to the above, they are, or were all Yamaha riders, it was a Yamaha event. Schwantz rode Suzukis.

So it was a carve up, Eddie should have used his own machine, and also when did Wayne Rainey ever smile, is this the photo of the first time. Had he had a character similar to KS he would have been just as popular.

ok it wasn't a race. Just read on MCN that it was suppose to be a 3 lap demo that got cut to 2. All where suppose to cross the line together for a photo but Rossi took off. No way he could have won by 15 in 2 or 3 laps in a real race.
