That's what I like about these guys -- hardly a wimp amongst them. Stoner rides obviously sick, Pedrosa and Lorenzo ride broken bones and all. Rossi is an iron man when injured too, but is good enough to keep from injury more than most. And they are not the only ones (look at that die-hard Hopper), and they are not the first, its been like this for 50 years. All motorcycle roadracing is full of stories like this. This is one tough bunch -- not like those car guys -- at least of late (except maybe the rally types). My hat's off to all these motorcycle roadracers.

MOTOGP » Lorenzo victory chance lost in Rossi attack

MotoGP season and already the 22-year-old has built up a fearsome reputation for overcoming painful injuries, but Sunday’s third place at Laguna Seca was arguably his best yet under such circumstances.

HOT OFF THE PRESS!!! Ben Spies with Yamaha till 2011 (motosprint.it) one more in sbk then motogp... but if he win this year and Lorenzo goes to HRC he will go next year run by a satelite team but with full support from Yamaha

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, even in a distant 4th Lorenzo was always a player, he was clever enough to pace himself with his injuries, closing in on Rossi was great to see, but that move wasn't on, he thought he could have done a Stoner on Rossi, but he should have waited for another opportunity. Had he done so he might have got Pedrosa as well. Well, if he learns from these, great if he doesn't then he will never win the main prize. also he must remember the race is never won during qualifying, so falling off twice isn't what you want to do. Dani won from the second row, thats why Rossi isn't to miffed about not being on pole. Apply some common sense Jorge and its yours.

Derek, i agree partly. If he had waited a little longer then he would have most likely got 2nd place, he wouldnt have had time to catch Dani. I think he made a risky but correct decision to have a go as Rossi wouldnt have been expecting it, Dani was 3 seconds up the road so Rossi would most likely have battled it out for 2nd instead of hoping Lorenzo drags him up to the front. This would have slowed Lorenzo down and meant he couldnt catch Dani. By trying it when he did, whilst he was on a roll in a good rhythm was probably the right thing to do at the time. If he had made it stick he would be getting a lot of praise but he didnt. At least he had the cojones to step up and have a go.

As a rider i think lorenzo is too much confident, disgusting.. to plant lorenzo's flag.. when he lost he used to say, "bassically, i could pass rider A, rider B, rider C,,,' funny,,,,!!!

Rossa

That sums up Lorenzo..always a cocky overconfident guy. It works for him quite well..when he crashes it is always due to cold tires and such...gotta say, the kid believes his BS with iron clad belief. He actually believes a desperado pass on Rossi would work..hahaha...and even funnier..that he could have won the race... kid is so full of himself...

So far so good it has worked for him.He does have a very good feeling to setup the bike and get it to not only turn, but most importantly stick. We shall see if he holds up or not. We shall see....

Paul, sometimes it is better to attack when the first opportunity presents itself, but this move on Rossi was not a goer from the onset. I also said that he might have caught Dani had he waited for another opp, not should have, or could have.

Also for kenlucky Kid, tell me what is wrong with having self belief and over confidence, he tried it, it was wrong the time in my view, but what if he had pulled it off. don't condemn, bloody well appreciate

Fair point Derek. I think you kind of summed it up in your reply to Kenlucky Kid... if he had pulled it off he would have been a hero and we should appreciate his talent and will to win.

He is not cocky he just has a lot of self confidence... all the guys do... if they dont believe they are better than every other guy on the grid they never will be. To be honest you probably need that attitude more so than ever if your team mate is Rossi!

What's up with Jorge going to Honda, I read, Honda offers more money and Yamaha doesn't want to up the price.

Well, we can say Jorge could have won the race, if he passes Rossi later, but we can say too, that Rossi could have won the race, if he don't makes the mistake at the end of the second lap, which allowed Casey to repass him. Many riders made many mistakes.
