Well done dani !!! I thought you rode a fantastic race and surprised everyone. And as for the whole thing of Dani doesnt show emotions, did you see the great big smile on his face and holdin back the tears on the podium. Hats off to you Dani, cant wait til the next race.

MOTOGP » Pedrosa: I didn’t think Rossi was so close

Dani Pedrosa beat the MotoGP title contenders to claim Honda’s first race win for over a year at Laguna Seca on Sunday, but it was almost taken away from him at the very final turn.

@Matt - yeah I hated the commentary.

I got tired of hearing "That Repsol Honda Pedrosa Honda Honda Honda Repsol Honda "

Every now and then Yamaha or Stoner's Ducati. No mention of Fiat throughout the whole thing but I bet Repsol got over 12 mentions.

I preferred the normal Speed commentary. Much less NASCAR IMO. We know it's the rider, not the manufacturer.

Quite incredible this is Hondas (and Pedrosas) first win in 13 months ending their worst losing streak in 27 years! So far Dovizioso hasn't lived up to the expectations and especially after his fall in Laguna the pressure will be on him.

Who taps off when the gap is 1.5 sec??? :rolleyes: especially when the guy behind is rossi :). Honestly tho rossi wasn't on it like the last race, Rossi was in full flight at assen. You could tell he didn't trust the bike fully (for whatever reason, probably tires).

Didn't see the race but I'm not surprised as you could see the Honda getting closer each race with Dovi and you knew once Pedrosa got healthier he'd be up there challenging. It will be interesting how Rossi responds knowing that three other guys can challenge on any given Sunday for the race lead. But I don't think it will phase him as he goes out every race to challenge for the win no matter who's lined up next to him.

Pedrosa showed us why he will rule when he gets fit. He can out launch anyone and out ride anyone. Nobody can match his speed.

Everyone knows his lightning starts but I think no one expected his pace.
His saturday qualfying time was 1.22.113
In the race he rode no less than 7 laps under his pole time
setting the fastest lap of 1.21.928 in lap 15!
Rossi gained on him from lap 27, he must have noticed that on his pitboard.
In lap 31 Rossi gained half a second, in the final lap over 1.2 seconds!

Yes, Dani is fast as hell when he's alone.
his starts are awesome, and that's often what he needs to win. Dani has bags of talent, but it seems to me that he chokes when not able to ride his qualifying line in a consistent rhythm. different racing lines like riding defensively, or attacking, aren't his strong suit, unfortunately. for that reason, Dani may never win the title.

With Dani's great result and the recent talks of Lorenzo possibly going to Honda what will happen to Pedrosa if Lorenzo jumps ship for the extra cash? Would Honda consider having both of them on the same team? If Telefonica brings the cash for Lorenzo then I guess they could afford to keep both. I'm not sure that it would be a smart move by Lorenzo as heir apparent to Rossi's thrown.
