Kenlucky kid and Yank Spanker or whatever your name is. Are you guys by any chance French? Because you two sound like the same anti American haters that Lashed out at Lance Armstrong for so many years. Nicky Hayden is the greatest MotoGP racer of the 990cc MotoGP Era!!! :)

Live with it you constipated French ****s!

MOTOGP » Hayden: Home fifth as hard as a win

The US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca was arguably a make or break moment for home star Nicky Hayden, who came into the event with a best finish of eighth from his first seven races as a factory Ducati rider.

I've never understood why so many people hate on Hayden. The paddock would do well to have a positive, hard-working guy that is tough and can develop a bike rather than some of the constipated, pissy Eurotrash prima donna that stomps off to pout when his front sag is set 1mm too low.

The guy is still probably the best racer from the US at the moment. Live with it.

Dumb post of the week nominee right here. One should never post their ignorance on public forums and label them as facts. Hayden fought Rossi for the lead repeatedly in 2006, plus a few times in 2005. He lost, but at least he was there. There were final lap attacks like in Losail and others.

Really? In 06 Hayden lead a total of zero laps at Qatar- in fact has never ever led single lap there. Hayden's number of leading laps in 06 was less then Bayliss - Hayden did a total of 29 laps-less than pedrosa this season (49)

In fact,Hayden's number of leading laps in nearly 7 seasons has been a gran total of 80.. Gibs led over 100 laps during 05 season alone.

Kenlucky,

Do you know what is required to meet the technical definition of leading a lap? do you mean to tell me that Nicky was never in front of any of those races???

One can pass for the lead, like Nicky did on the 2nd to last lap against Rossi in qatar, but not technically lead a lap. Nicky didn't lead that lap cuz rossi passed him back before the start/finish line.

Marco Melandri

1) No MotoGP Champion (no massive luck and no full factory honda wunderbike)
2) 5 motogp career race wins
3) 20 motogp career podiums
4) 0 motogp Pole Positions
5) 3 career fastest race laps

The only thing Hayden fans hold on to is the great fluke of 06 - a unrepeatable fluke(by anybody for that matter)and certainly unrepeatable by Hayden. Results of the past 3 seasons prove it.But even if Hayden finishes 10-12th this season it wont be proof enough....

Rainey and Doohan felt they were not "real champs" until they felt they could do it again.Fact is Hayden wont come even close, let alone do it.

IF Stoner were not to win again,he is still a bigtime contender-unlike Hayden

So by applying your logic Schwantz and Gardner were flukes since they only won a single championship each? Get a clue before you type and call others ignorant of the facts!

I dont think anybody actually hates Hayden -certainly not like Biaggi. ou are right, Hayden is a likable guy.He and his management team are GREAT at marketing and Hayden is a people person by nature.Which is why, even if he were to finish this season 12 and the next more of the same etc etc..he still will be marketable.

However a lot of people dont like fluky WC wins.A fluky race happens, but winning on fluky attrition doing damage control...plus incessant whining by NH & fans from day one at HRC gets OLD.BS conspiracy theories,BS confrontation with DP & Puig, bla bla..Honda is bla bla & then to SUC on the DUC..

Hayden has good reason to smile:fans make more excuses than he does.

Honestly, I find that the Hayden-haters generally know less about the sport than most. Usually, they're fair weather fans that cling onto Rossi's jock. If you take Rossi out of the equation the field would be a lot more open and you'd see a lot of one-off champions. The fact that Stoner AND Hayden did in an era that Rossi has proven dominant is incredible. That's worth commenting about it. For people who give Hayden so much crap about the 06 season, I didn't see anyone else stepping up their game to claim the WC. "Hayden had the best bike," well so did Melandri, Pedrosa. The Ducati wasn't shabble either - Capirossi? Former WC champ, Roberts? Plenty who could have capitalized, but only 1 did.
