MOTOGP » Hayden: Home fifth as hard as a win

The US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca was arguably a make or break moment for home star Nicky Hayden, who came into the event with a best finish of eighth from his first seven races as a factory Ducati rider.

There are a few people who just spoil it for all.

The Hayden haters, the stoner haters, the toseland haters, the rossi haters, the edwards haters....the list goes on and on.

What amases me most is why the likes of 'kenlucky' etc bother to spend so much time and energy just just putting someone down. I mean its not just one or two remarks it hours and hours of postings...do they have nothing better to do then hate. :?

Dont get me wrong I love a good debate and have had many of my ideas changed by some of the things people have to say and I know we cant all love everyone but come on....show them some respect....after all they probably have the job you would give your right *** for!

Rossi did not finish in 06 or 07th 8th. Hayden ridng the pneumatic big power bike got beat by Dovi in 08 riding that sheit 07 bike you say. Melandri finished ahead of Hayden in 07 as well...

Pedrosa finished second on that shiet bike in 07 and third in 08.

Oh, but wait, the duc is a shiet bike too.

Kenlucky,
Danny rode the Evo once and basically told Honda he wasn't going to ride that POS. Nicky rode the bike at the same test and was 1.5s faster on the 05 but had no choice but to ride the Evo simply because Danny wouldn't. He had to test the 800cc parts. He did far better than HRC engineers expected in the 1st race and that continued most of the season while he was treated like a development rider. Danny and Marco were on 05 bikes with proven reliability, parts and data to set the bike up every race weekend. Nicky went into each weekend on an experiment and exceeded expectations. In 2006 he did his job well, actually better than VR at setting up a new bike and was WC.

The first thing JB did was have VR ride the M1, get a good base and weld the damn thing. The M1 had a ridiculous amount of chassis adjustment which made it impossible to set up right, ask any prior rider. This is why the chassis changed each event as it continued to improve. It is fair to say that both Nicky and VR were developing entirely new machines. Nicky didn't have the engine reliability problems that VR did but neither did the other M1 riders. Vale pushed too hard and blew it up or crashed and lost the championship. Even after Pedrosa handed it to him. Hayden is one of the top 8 riders in the world today and the #1 when it comes to work ethic. Even you should appreciate that...

In 2007/8, whilst in the hands of Pedrosa, the Repsol Honda won races, took many podiums and finished 2nd and 3rd in the WC. In 2009, Stoner is winning races and taking podiums on the Ducati and is still in with a good chance of becoming WC again. It is quite obvious to anyone with a brain cell that over the last 3 seasons, Ducati and Honda have delivered race winning bikes to the factory teams and come race day the technical staff have been more than capable in helping the rider set the bikes up. So why as Hayden performed so poorly over the last 3 seasons in comparison to his team mates when he has had the same resources available?
Facts only please. No speculative answers RawDork :)

The reason is simple to me. It was clear when they rolled the 212 out of the garage for the first time that the bike wasn't meant for Nicky. He spent the first test sitting on the tail and it wasn't until the midway point in the season when Danny wasn't performing that they gave him new bodywork. Honda pinned everything on Danny and pushed for the 800cc era for that reason. KR said recently that you can't be 140 and win on the 800's. Nicky has dropped 20lbs since 2006 to acclimate to the bike. He went to Ducati and since it was so hard to ride and had the HP to carry the extra weight it looked like a good fit even though no one but CS could ride it.

The new bike, tires and team were a problem but the limited testing and practice time really hurt a hard working rider like him. I believe he will get back to his top 8 form eventually once he has the seat time. He's getting there.
I don't want to piss off any fanboys but I don't think the results on the GP9 are because Casey is a god, its because Ducati has resource problems. I have my theories on that...

soops

You simply choose to filter out info. The crash preseaon article and superbikeplanet.com quote were spot on.Hayden was testing both & choose the EV0 bike.First two races went very well, best races Hayden had in a long time. The FACT is that HRC did not spend tens of millions just for fun experiments or practical jokes.

To say,Hayden was a "company man" kissing ash is utter BS.07 after Jerez,Hayden wanted Dani's spec chassis-He got it for the next race.08 Hayden insisted getting the big power motor-despite objections that it was not ready(too thirsty),he got it for Assen..& ran out of,duh, gas.HRC got tired of the BS- offered Hayden to seek better opportunities outside HRC.

Regardless. In 06 Kenlucky was lucky for Rossi to have 3 mechanical DNFs,Taken out, come unscathed in CAT,have capi, melandri, gibs injured(DNS),Rossi injured (assen),"Rain saved my ash" (quote at PI),Edwards bonehead move at Assen..etc etc..

The movie style "hero luck" was unheard of. Not to be repeated any time soon by Hayden or anybody for that matter.Kenny Noyes wrote a good piece for the spanish press "Hayden's 9 Lives".

Please continue the entertaining excuses for the rest of the season & next season as well. Please explain why Simoncelli kicks Hayden's ash next year...
