I was at the '93 GP and it was a cracking race. Apart from the big crash at the esses which took mixed it up early, it looked like Carl Fogarty on a wildcard factory Cagiva ride would finish on the podium and go a long way to getting him a coveted permanent GP ride and proving he had what it takes. As it turned out he had a problem with tyres (or fuel maybe?) and came in 4th.
In many ways MacKenzie's ride was the better one as he was on an inferior bike but had the pace to bring it home. I suspect it's at least in his top 3 career moments too. The crowd went mental at the pair of them.

The other abiding memory is watching the sidecar race. Superb. :)

Foggy ran out of fuel a few hundred yards from the line, cruel luck.I've never been to Donington but went to Silverstone loads of times. When the GP moved to Donington in 87 i was p1ssed off by it because it was further to travel so i didn't bother.Since then they have totally knackered the silverstone circuit which before was the fastest GP track in the world and now no longer flows like it did.Now Donington are changing their track to a much faster layout which looks great for bikes and then Dorna go and move it back to silverstone, which i totally disagree with.Moto GP on the new donington track would be awesome, silverstone still sucks and will never be as good as it once was.

(cont) My ever lasting memory of the British GP on the old Silverstone track is watching from the grandstands at woodcote and watching King Kenny Roberts blasting into view from under the then Dialy Express bridge, that guy was the most impressive rider i ever saw in the flesh.Seeing him wheelie over the start and finish line in 83,i will die with that memory as will the memory of seeing Barry Sheene nip past Boet Van Dulman on the last lap of the same race, the crowd going totally mental. When he came back on the in lap with his crash helmet on the tank as always,he looked over at the woodcote grandstand and punched the air with his fist, the stand nearly collapsed.Brilliant memories :)

How remarkably similar to a very similar report on MCN's website...odd, same layout and text...very odd.

Crash.net: The stats are part of a pre-event press package sent out by Dorna.
