If it had rained then the gamble would have paid off and we would all be commenting on how shrewd and clever the Ducati team and riders were.
But it did'nt.
So they just looked stupid!
One for the history books that one! :?

I really don't see any normal reason to start the race on rain tyres... There was no rain! When EVERYBODY starts on slicks, why you choice rain tires? If Slicks was a bad choice, you can change the bike when EVERYBODY goes to change his bikes. I mean you lose nothing. Everybody is in the same situation. Really stupid.. When I saw Stoner on p15 I couldn't believe it!

i could understand it if Stoner was waaaay back in qualifying but for him to go with wets whilst EVERY other rider went with slicks is idiotic, you always go with what your WC rivals have surely?. I realise it would've appeared a masterstroke if it had rained but its so desperate i can't believe they rated stoners chances in the dry that badly!.

what i liked most was Livio Suppo's statement "we look like idiots". Point made, but he took the blame for no reason, it was just the riders decison.

It was all down to the riders, the team tried to convince both to do the same as all other riders. But Stoner said, that slicks would have been to risky.

Suppo took the blame, thats team spirit, casey

The most surreal moments during the race were seeing the Ducati crew holding a bike with slicks at the ready while the other teams were preparing wet bikes.
That and Stoner and Hayden being lapped by the front runners.

Ofcourse it's easy for us to comment on this with the benefit of hindsight but in general if you are in contention for a championship it is unwise to do something so radically different from your opponents. For Hayden it's another story, he is way down and could gamble.

I was there today folks at the bottom of the Craner Curves. In hindsight it was a stupid thing to do, but it was raining all through that race, very lightly at first but after 6 or 7 laps it got heavier. That COULD have worked in their favour but it didn't... Shame for them the race wasn't an hour later later, as all the way home it was pi55ing it down, still is 5 hours later...
