Stupid engine rule. It will wreck the championship if one of the riders blows up an engine. I hate these kind of rules that take the racing away from the track and into the realm of the pencillickers.
It will take the factouries thousands of hours on the testbench to make the engines reliable enough. That has nothing to do with cutting costs
MotoGP is on it's way down

That should keep Spanish riders in factory teams with the like of Ben Spies headed for MotoGP at least for one season.

Seems that the Technical Director (and his staff) will have their work cut out then - wonder how much it will cost to expand the team??

Sounds like a closed shop agreement to me .Needs some one to go and break the Dorna stranglehold before they kill the sport .

Someone want to clear up for me what "appropriate penalty" is? Was that made clear previously, or is at the whim of Carmelo? :?

I really have trouble understanding the logic behind the rookie rule.... let the private teams employ the riders that are most likely to cause the most damage to the bikes finding the limits in a new championship before letting the factory teams cherry pick the cream of the crop? And this is supposed to help private teams?

With all these seals all over the place, how can they check the health of the engine to see if it will last another race?

Why does this rule exist? I can't see the reason...

Last time I checked the "appropriate penalty" was 10 points ( presumably a reduction thereof) for the rider.

I don't know quite how to feel about these engine restrictions. What about changes to the computer system in the last 7 races? And how does it contribute to MotoGP as a prototype class if new parts become available but teams are not allowed to fit them.?

I guess you can change a cassette gearbox out without breaking the seals.

Hope Ducati desmo and the pneumonia valves on other bikes can go more than one round without being checked.

Presumably you've got to share those five engines across both your wet and dry bike as well.

The rookie rule I'm guessing is aimed at making satellite/privateer teams more competitive - effectively a salary cap or draft system for hot new talent being brought in from lower classes, WSBK etc.
