Statistically closer racing at the front so far in 2009 than the previous 2 seasons... and yet the gap between Factory & Satellite riders is growing (?). Well, that correlates with the predictable 'top 4' finishers and almost identical podiums (until Donington!).

A shame that "Factory riders were classed as those riding for a factory team." - makes it difficult to make sense of the stats when you've got Elias in a satellite team, supposedly on a factory-spec bike!

San Carlo Honda Gresini - Race: de Angelis 6 - Elias 4
I'd expect to see Elias well in front of de Angelis at this stage, all things considered

Pramac Racing - Race: Kallio 3 - Canepa 6
And yet Canepa is probably the most underrated rider on the grid.. To quote the article, "to finish first, first you must finish". Canepa has managed to finish every race so far (albeit not always with points), and that's not taking anything away from Kallio, obviously he's struggled with the finger injury! But, 3 DNFs explain 3 of Canepa's 'better race results', not the other 3...

De Puniet is not this years biggest crasher so far - vive la France :p

Makes for interesting reading. There are quite a few people who post on here shouting their opinions about who is fast and who isn't, who could do with reading these. The facts are there. Even if (like me who is a bit of a JT fan) u might not like what u read. I don't think that if u see the same stats for the last 7 races when they are over, that they will look the same. I think there will be a lot stronger showing from the Hondas. And not just the factory bikes either. They look to have stepped it up.

This is a terribly lopsided season. For me the most telling stat is podiums. The top 8 riders are the only ones to have podium but riders 5-8 have only podium once. Of those 4 riders CE, Dovi, and de Puinet just podium last round.

The top 4 of Rossi, Lorenzo, Stoner, and Pedrosa are really kicking a55 and look to be unstoppable.

Both Toseland and Hayden will be in MotoGP next. If for nothing more, Dorna wants Toseland to keep the BBC happy and Ducati will keep Hayden for the US market (not to mention he's only 4 or 5 points off Melandri's total for all of last year).

With the exception of Laguna in 2008, 2009 is making for more exciting racing. Also agree with the fact that Elias should be having more sucess than De Anglis.

Randy de Puniet should have a factory bike next year, or something similar to the package that Elias has this year.

Well who'd a thunk it. The cream has risen to the top. Best Factory Rider is up in the standing. Best Satellite Rider is up amoungst his peers.

I think a good reason to say why Elias is not higher than De Angelis is because he started with an early version of this bike and actually had to develop it along with Dov as Pedrosa was injured.

We all know how the RCV was performing in the beginning. Elias was not at all happy to ride this bike!
Finally he's getting the hang of it.. or maybe it is contract time lol!

All nice riders, and people :)
