We're going to see more of this kind of thing as time goes on - especially next year.

DORNA - please reverse your (obviously) stupid engine rule.

The sooner the better - before more (cost-cutting) R & D goes into it.

How do you expect closer and more competitive racing if teams are more worried about engine-wear than setup ???????????????????????

Smart man....it has now become a Chess match, where a good rider can lose because of these dam rules.....the fans that come out to see practice and QP are the ones being cheated.

this silly engine rrule is supposed to cut cost's right? but wouldn't this new rule actually add further costs as the manufacturers up development costs to re-engineer their engines to run for much longer periods? (up from maybe one race weekend to three next season) And i really cannot understand why they are considering letting the smaller teams run highly tuned 1000cc production based engines as a further cost cutting exercise as how this idea can cut costs is beyond me. Fact: an 800cc GP bike greatly outperforms any 1000cc WSB, wsb engines are already very highly tuned and to get them to any where near the performance of the 800cc engines will take an awfull lot of new research and

development which isn't going to be cheap. Especially at this stage of development where all the big changes to squeeze the last few bhp and ft/lb out of them has been completed so they now have to start looking at all the small things which sometimes entails many small changes for not much more performance.

Agreed....DORNA need to sitdown have have a re-think about the cost-cutting measures introduced in order to save teams money. If the man from Marlboro has got a spare $15mil kicking around his breifcase, surely their are more companys out there willing to part with a bit of surplus?

Sitting out sessions or part of to save on engine miles is counter productive, afterall these bikes are pure prototypes, and need constant development, testing etc,etc....

Penelope,

In regards to Marlboro having 15 mil to kick around, maybe that is what Dorna was after. Perhaps it is a plan to try and free up assests so that other teams can join the grid. This all of course if the R&D for a longer lasting engine doesn't eat up that budget.

Just my opinion, no facts behind this at all.

Hello Robert Jones

The intent of my post was that Rossi, with a 50 pt lead, could easily give up 10 pts for a new engine and lose no advantage, therfore, the bit of sarcasm.
