Some quotes from Rossi at visordown:

“I always try to make a great work for developing the bike, and I usually make the work just for me. But now I am also doing it for my worst enemy,”

“Sincerely, I think I don't deserve this after what I have done for Yamaha. But this is the Yamaha choice...

“Before, I never thought of going out of Yamaha, but now with this situation with Lorenzo, I have to make a decision,”

You wouldn't blame Casey from walking away from Ducati now.
They were so keen to get Lorenzo and pay him double Stoners wage it wouldn't surprise me if he left.

A 'we love 27' mosaic is all well and good, but money talks...

Put Stoner on anything and he's be fast, shame the same can't be said of the GP9 that he'd leave behind.
I also think something like the M1 or RCV would be less tiring to ride so if Stoner can't shake off the mystery fatigue syndrome he could find salvation with a japanese bike.
Or go to wsbk where he'd win the championship in his first year! Far friendlier paddock too!

One piece of the Stoner puzzle os missing in the article above: the press release of August where Stoner admitted he was not enjoying his job anymore, and therefore unable to push his D16 all along a GP week-end, especially on race day. No longer sickness or virus excuses.

As far as I know Casey has not been available on the phone for anyone, even Livio Suppo or Nicky Hayden, for a few weeks, and only his father Colin (who is a good man btw) said he had news from his son and was confident Casey would show up.

Either Casey will be a no-show, or still feels in the same mood, and in both cases Ducati will be in a mess for 2010, or Casey is back and ready to fight, and ... it will help Vale!

While it's good news that the stoner will be there in estoril I'd like to hear from the kid himself. We need to hear some positive vibes from stonesy, he's been missing for a while now and the fact that ducati went after lorenzo so hard doesn't really indicate he's given them much confidence in his ongoing viability as a no.1 challenger.
Having said that i'll be the first to get back on the bandwagon if the fella can get out amongst the M1's in portugal. Kick on Casey!

Jon, Casey Stoner has been totally inconsistent on each and every bike he has been riding, in whatever category, except once on the Ducati.

I fail to see how you can be so sure he would shine on any other machinery.

Actually, the 2007 D16 was way in advance in terms of electronics, both as regards the engine power vs mileage management and as regards the 'traction control' package.

In 2007 Casey could ride less on the edge because his bike was superior, hence less crashes and many wins. In 2008 things were slightly more difficult, and Casey cracked under Vale's pressure. In 2009 he saw both Yamahas being fast, and he collapsed mentally.

Riding is kind of magic for him, just pure talent.

If you think him and Ducati are soar now, wait until next year when the Rossi / Ducati rumors start to fly!!!

Rossi's dad has always bugged him to join Ducati, and its the final MotoGP challenge for him and as he said himself "the Italian dream"

This guy will relish the challenge to beat Stoner on a Duc, leave Lorenzo his machine and beat him just the way he did Biaggi!!!

If Rossi is within 5 wins of Ago's record by the end of 2010 I bet the house he will make a Ducati switch to collect those 5 wins and even fluke a WC on the red mist!

Stoner's time is limited if not run out entirely. Only Lorenzo has a chance now!

must be Stoner himself hitting the dissagree button so hard, what with all that time on his hands and fondness for anonymity!

@alaywa.
Rossi will probably ask Burgess if he would be able to make the bike a winner...if not he won't ride it...
