So what is this based on?
Last person to brake?
Highest g-force under braking?
Most speed lost?

On its own I don't think it says an awful lot. Surely it's better to be less of a 'late braker' but then carry another 8kph around the corner?

Jon,

It says late-brakers so any assumption other than the shortest braking distance is probably wrong. Moreover you are making the assumption that a "late-braker" also slows down more which most likely also is false.

i think it basically shows who has the balls/skills to leave the braking as late as possible, which shows good defensive technique while racing and good bike control.

dkcp,

Sure, but not that simple.

Shortest braking distance doesn't mean a thing- unless we know the terminal speed they're braking from and their corner entry speed you can't conclude anything.
Example: 300kph slowing to 90kph in 25 meters
290kph slowing to 95kph in 20 meters
275kph slowing to 95kph in 19 meters
310kph slowing to 90kph in 36 meters
The third example had the shortest braking distance, but who lost the most speed, and who sacrificed their line the most by braking too deep into the corner and not taking the best line?
It's easier to brake late and straight, square off the corner and power out than carry the speed and sweep round.

Wheres Toni Elias his hard to be overtaken because late braking ability is good I would say better than anybody out there well that of cource with the exception of Rossi. well of course Rossi. According to Ben Spies if you are bigger you bring more stabily in Late Braking, but its downside is acceleration in getting out of the corner where the smaller guys has an advantage like stoner, lorenzo, pedrosa.

@ bugref

The article says that Gresini do not use Brembo's, and this info was provided by them, so thats why Elias was not in the top 10. Not sure what brakes they use :?
