MOTOGP » LCR Honda hopes de Puniet will stay

Currently tied with Alex de Angelis as the top satellite Honda rider in the 2009 MotoGP World Championship, LCR Honda unsurprisingly hopes that Randy de Puniet will remain with the team for a third season.

Randy will stay with LCR, Although Tech 3 may be interested, and it *is* a better ride he will remain atop a honda for '10

With the current climate in motoGP (lots of new blood, and all the top 5 guys staying put and some top former race winners offering to ride for free) the LCR ride may be the best Randy can hope for at the moment. Unless Spies stays in WSBK for 2010 it sounds like the second Tech3 bike is already spoken for. That doesn't leave a lot of desirable seats in MotoGP.

Doubt he'll move but it would ease Tech 3's comms problems wouldn't it?

I agree with El Bigonio, LCR is the best bet for RDP. The only thing that might sway a Tech3 ride is the fact that he's French, can't see it happening with so many other riders in the picture. Token Toseland has a better chance of signing with them, and other people (one who might win a different championship) have a better chance than both of them.

I think RDP should stay with LCR. Let's just say he goes to Tech 3 for 2010, and Spies stays in WSBK. I can not see Tech 3 signing RDP for longer than a year, in loo of Spies for 2011, and I think Colin will stick around. So, that would leave RDP w/o a ride.

He's done well on this bike, and think he can be a top 7 contender every now and then for next year if he continues with LCR.

LCR is the stepping stone for RDP for a Repsol Honda seat. Tech might want RDP, but Yamaha not so keen. Pedrosa want out, Dovi still not there yet to lead. Sit tight there in LCR may paid off for RDP for factory seat.

Lets not kid ourselves here. The second LCR stick a contract under Randy's face he will sign it. Tech 3 wont offer him a ride and to be honest i think he has done such a good job on the Honda this year he'd be insane to move. He has clicked with the bike, he gets on well with the 'Stones and another year will be good for him.

Would make sense for RDP to stay with LCR unless Spies stays with WSB for one year. If Spies stays with WSB next year then DePuniet would have to be sure he can out ride Edwards in hopes to staying with Tech3 in 2011. Then in 2012 Spies would possibly move to the factory assuming Rossi retires or Lorenzo leaves and Tech3 would retire Edwards for the next up-comer from 250/Moto2. As this has too many variables LCR seems more viable.

I would say Randy has had a better season this time around compared to what it was in 2008 when he suffered them crashes agree best of staying with the LCR team next year maybe the following year I think Tech 3 will make a move for him.
