Well what this says is that if Rea wanted a moto GP seat he should have made a move to 250P class and prove himself - nothing new really
Pretty much what Crutchlow is doing next year..
Pasini in MotoGP: a good thing - he deserves it

MOTOGP » Mattia Pasini gets second Ducati test

Despite turning down the chance to race for Pramac Ducati earlier in the season, Mattia Pasini will be back on a Desmosedici MotoGP bike for a private test session at Mugello.

Are they looking at him for a Pramac seat next year? Really?

Ducati just wants another Italian rider.

It's a shame that a guy can be 4th in the 250s and gets a ride based on nationality (Barbera) or 5th in 250s and get 2 test based on nationality (Pasini) when a guy like Rea can't get a sniff.

It's funny how the so-called recession seems to have bypassed Spain, their riders/drivers in any form of motorsport never have any problem finding sponsorship!

"Pasini in MotoGP: a good thing - he deserves it"

So 2 wins in 250s, 5th in the 250 Championship, and a last place in a MotoGP test equals a deserving ride in MotoGP? Really? Maybe another test but a full ride?

I can see if he goes out and impresses in a test but last in a test isn't impressive. If he goes out in the next test and sets the world on fire AND EARNS the ride is one thing. But deserve? Hell no. If anything Espargaro DESERVES the ride based on actually RESULTS on the Ducati.

I know the Championship doesn't lie, but I really believe Pasini's better than fifth place all things considered. Also, after 2007 in the 125s (which looked at the beginning destined to be his championship year) if anyone deserves a bit of good fortune, it's Mattia. Add to that that he always comes across as a really nice chap and I, for one, can't begrudge him a GP ride - I hope his arm can stand up to the bigger bikes and that he does well

Pasini is doing really well in 250, he's scored 120pts to his teammate's 12pts.

that's my point robsurrey.

He isn't great - 2 wins in 2 seasons. You can do "well" in 250s and get a decent look but to get a look in WSBK if seems you have to have won a title or 2 or win over half the races in a season like Spies.

I am a fan of Pasini, as well. He has certainly had his fair share of bad luck the past few years, with seized motors and all.
Now, does he have the riding style needed to make it work in MotoGP? I have not seen enough of his riding to determine whether he has the aggressive smoothness needed...

Well, the Spanish, Italians and French don't borrow 6 times their salary or remortgage constantly - They're nothing like as greedy.. so their banks are nothing like as exposed and can carry on lending to business etc, so the recession is somewhat reduced!

Whereas the Americans - doh!
