"and set the fifth fastest race lap"

by cutting the first chicane....

I do wish people would drop this fifth fastest lap rubbish, yes he did so on paper, but if he had done it in quali, the time would have been scrapped because he cut the chicane.... it only stands because it was done in the race, no other reason.

Im really concerned about the future.
MotoGP looks more like F1 : too few rides and too expensive. Too much electronics settings deciding race winners. Too many decent pilots outside the grid : Toseland Elias DAngelis etc. for lack of rides.
Why not limiting electronics -Let the Talent brigth-
Why not do as Moto2?: factories sellings Engines to frame constructors -Specially now that limited engines per Rider have enligthten Factorys work lines.

Chete I'd agree with you on limiting engine electronics especially traction control, tylemetry, and launch control but not engines or chassis. Also with that they should increase the amount of fuel as another big part of the electronics is fuel management. I wonder if picking Espargaro was more due to cost because I'm sure D'Angelis would have been a better pick.

Where do you see he's bringing any money?

I think if he had any money he wouldn't have been without a ride this year.

I can't see how you can imply the guy didn't earn the ride on merit.
