One guy and one year old bike... single-handedly destroyed a year long continuous factory effort with 2 riders. Anyone else doubting melandri's ability?

MOTOGP » Melandri, Hayate break 2008 Kawasaki total

Marco Melandri’s four points for finishing twelfth in Sunday’s Portuguese Grand Prix were enough to exceed the Constructors’ points total scored by the factory Kawasaki team last season.

I know there are a lot of Marco-doubters out there...
But Im sure that if Gresini will keep their level of tech for next season and supply Melandri with the same bike as they gave Elias and deAngelis this season...
he will be a regular top 5 visitor. Might even be able to win a race next year...

Go Marco! Some of us still believe! :)

It's not the same bike as last year - it's a different bike.

If you remember, Kawasaki pulled out at the 12th hr - they already had the new bike ready to go.

@ GP One,

The 2009 Bike is completly new! New chasis, new engine and much less traction problems exiting corners. Most of Marcos points came from one wet weather result.

I don't think Hopper would've been tooling around at the back with Gabor last weekend like Marco did!

Melandri gave up this year just like he did at Ducati the year before. Hopefully Gresini get there moneys worth.

Mate, unless you are slapping backs with blokes in the Motogp paddock and buying beers for Marco on the weekend, saying 'he gave up this year just like he did at Ducati' is utter BS!! I far as I can tell he has been doing a great job on a bike with no development through the year. As for Hopper, of course he wouldn't have been 'tooling' around with Gabor at the back, because he would have been in pieces in hospital...the bloke can't keep it upright.

@DrifterJake - were you born a thick plank or do you just practice a lot? :?

The Hayate has had minimal, if any, development since it came out of the box. Of course the bikes performance is going to diminish relative to the other bikes that are continuously receiving upgrades!

Anyone with half a brain (obviously not you) can see that he his giving it 100% and riding the wheels of that thing. That is why he his receiving such rapturous applause from anyone in the know (obviously not you again!).

Replace Dovi with Melandri in 2010 and you will see another genuine challenger for the title! :)

Nice personal attack! Can't make a point without being an a$$? Shows who the thick plank is here! :?

You are right no development this year just like Ducati didn't devel............ No, wait a minute, Ducati did develope their bike all year and Marco still got worse as the year progressed. Hayden put the Duc on the podium what is Melandris excuse!

Good job by Marco and Hayate, I think they'll need a wet race to get any more good results this year. Best of luck for Marco at Gresini and Hayate in moto2 next year.
