This man is no stranger to being in this position. he may be sandbagging, but you can be sure, come the chequerd flag he have the job, championship and season
done. The rest might have landed a punch or 2 on him during the season, but they won't win the fight.
I'm very open minded race fan, love a tight - fair race. Rossi is just someone very special.

MOTOGP » Rossi drops back, but 'quite happy'

If Friday’s free practice results are repeated in Sunday’s Malaysian Grand Prix then Valentino Rossi would secure his seventh MotoGP crown before the Valencia season finale - just.

I think a lot of Rossi fans are young and relatively new to the sport. The pop star colourful image and the multiple victories have led them to adopt a juvenile, unhealthy and visceral hatred of all other riders. They are just like football fans.

Open your eyes guys. All the riders on the MotoGP grid have won world championships on one bike or another, but since they race on different machinery it is difficult to make direct comparisons, unless they are team mates. Even then it's not easy since even they often have access to different parts, for instance Rossi and Lorenzo & Pedrosa and Dovizioso.

Is it really too much to ask that you appreciate what they can all do?

Yeah, thought so.

You wrote the following

Anyway, if you actually checked your facts you might find the term was originally coined to describe legendary US motocrosser Rick Charmichael, not Valentino Rossi.

The name was simply recycled.

This statement is not completely accurate. It was not originally coined to describe Ricky, since it already existed.

It was recycled to refer to Rick Carmichael.

Which is what another poster referred to when he said to you the phrase has been around a long time before Rick or Vale.

What Sh1te !!!!!

Codger, Morgue, Robert Jones , Grannie Jane - to name but a very few who might not fit your ridiculous profile.

Funnily enough, they do not seem to hate the other riders either.

Shame you said this - the rest of it was quite good.

The difference between Rossi's DNFs in 06 and Lorenzos this year is that Rossi had mechanical failures and lost the title, the blame is all on Lorenzo for loosing this one by rider error.

@wosideg @anglofile wow some vicious name-calling there, i'm stung. i accept your intentions but you know where this stuff about straight-line speed leads the discussion as well as I do. I have heard it bleated by sh1theads so often to try and discount Stoner's numerous victories and to invalidate a world championship that was won fair and square that I must admit getting a tad prickly about it.

At least us rossi fans have something to get excited about, unlike the stoner fans.

But the *****n twisted way you Rossi bashers talk is nothing more than childish dribble.

Waz, I have to agree with some of your words every rider who wins a WC is on merit no matter if it was won with big battles along the way or not, the rider still has to ride the bike each race does he not?

It is however a true fact that some titles are easier to obtain than others & I truly beleive that Stoners title was acheived during a year in which the competition was simply no where to be seen.

You look at this year to realise that.

Thats BS! 1)Rossi was leading the championship and crashed! 2)Rossis DNFs were an uncontrolable to Hayden just as Lorenzos DNFs were an uncontrolable to Rossi! The result is "luck" for the benificiary! When one rider fails to finish EVERY remaining rider benifits not just one!
