I'd like to know who sets the perameters for these 'control tyres,' certainly not Honda. Can they really be suitable to all. Michelin threw tyre after tyre at its top flight riders / teams, to suit the bike. The bike now appears to have to suit the tyre, I have no idea which is more cost effective..again, ask Honda. The new 'long life' engines must have quite a new effect upon the characteristics needed in its tyre.
In F1, Bridgestone went back to a tyre from '04 when they became sole supplier couple years back. Did they adopt a couple year old 'Stoner tyre'( as someone noted here ) for general consumption ??
