If Rossi becomes world champion on Honda, Yamaha, and also a Ducati.....This would be a smart move for Rossi to leave Yamaha.

Casey Stoner would need to get 7 more titles, and swap teams, twice, just to equal Rossi! Stoner won't get 5 or 6 more titles because Lorenzo will win some of them, and by then Simoncelli will be on fire.

I do believe this is a once in a lifetime event watching this unfold.

MOTOGP » Rossi to sign on for shot at Ago record?

Next year’s MotoGP championship is unlikely to be Valentino Rossi’s last, with the nine-time title winner now 'thinking out loud' about a shot at Giacomo Agostini’s grand prix win record.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Valentino on Italian machinary other than winning on one. Maybe as a factory one-off team with his present crew. For sure that would bring a little mix to the championship.

I think a switch to Ducati in 2011 is likely given the chance at surpassing his hero 'Ago'. I argued as much last month in 'Why Rossi will Finish his Career on a Ducati'
in my ducatinewstoday blog

Yamaha must be extremely concerned at the prospect of losing Rossi.
It's no coincidence that since the arrival of Rossi/Burgess they have had success culminating in yesterdays 'Triple Crown'. Crossplane crank R1s have been cleaning up domestically, Yamaha have outsold Honda here in the UK for the 1st time ever..
The partnership with Ducati would be fascinating to see and a PR match made in heaven. The bike is fast and not as far away as the Yamaha was when he moved from Honda.
To win a championship with a 3rd manufacturer and Italian at that, would surely mark Valentino as the Best.

will be looking forwards to seeing him in motogp for anova 2-3 years.

I be the others are ruing their chances of a title.

If he joins ducati it would be a fitting way to end his career no doubt about it.

In the Motogp article with the Yamaha Team management expressing their congratulations to Rossi sounded as they feared his departure after next season. Sounding as if they're willing to do almost anything to keep him with Yamaha for making it the Motogp force that it now is. It would be a big mistake if they let him go. I'm sure Honda as well Ducati would love to have Rossi for 2 years. If he returned to Honda that would probably be the worst case scenario for Yamaha.

Wosideg: Rossi is already best without the need to switch to Ducati to confirm it but I agree the press and excitement related to such a move would be huge.

One scenario maybe if Rossi wins next year's title then he'll match Ago's premier class world championships and all he would need is more individual race wins to essential be the unquestioned best racer ever. This may play into his decision to move to Ducati in 2011 as he'll only need wins and while another championship would be nice it wouldn't be essential to solidify his place in history.

As a big Vale fan I hope he keeps racing for a few more years, as an Italian I think it would be very interesting if he goes to ducati but if he doesnt its cool, if you gave him a vespa he would do well :)
