MOTOGP » BBC explains Sepang MotoGP coverage

With MotoGP and F1 coverage now with the BBC it might be time for the BBC to introduce a dedicated Sports channel. They could use the space currently allocated to BBC Alba or the BBC Parliament channel. If they can introduce those limited interest channels they can do one for Sports.

Man I hate the BBC. After living in the UK for 7 years and being harrassed twice a year by those damn TV licence KGB agents (when I didnt have a TV), they have the gaul then to try to get exclussive MotoGP rights and bump out Eurosport, then turn around and tell us they couldn't bump and Andrew Marr show or some kids (pretaped syndicated show)?!?! Are they for real?!?! They compare a title deciding race to a F1 qualifying?!?!?! It clearly shows their lack of commitment to the sport and their arrogance. The BBC is an archaic joke and were only useful to switch over to when Eurosport went to commercials! Why they went for exclusivity? Pure cack handed arrogance!

PS. I also watch as much as possible on Eurosport as I can.

Why didn't they continue it on the red button then??? BBC you bunch of nobbers!!!

Let Eurosport have it back - I pay the licence fee for the BBC, I pay Virgin Media to get Eurosport and I can't watch FULL LIVE COVERAGE of MotoGP on EITHER OF THEM!!!

The sad fact is that the BBC sit on their little high horses after robbing you with their stealth tax and then lay down the condescending argument that their service is essential to UK culture to justify its extortion. While in fact they have clearly attempted to monopolise and create this "essential" situation all while providing a poorer goverment service that the private sector has proven capable of!! Maybe the BBC was essential back in the bombing raids when it was a radio and emergency communication service but those days are gone! They aren't essential!!! They are criminals with their extortion and half a$$ed back handed apologies. Wait till they wade into the net with their iplayer!

Its poor really. At the very least they should publish more stuff on iPlayer. I'm sure they must do more interviews and they could have the 125 and 250 races on iPlayer as well. I just feel that the BBC got the deal and are now doing the bare minimum which is a shame as other than Cox and Parrish I think the BBC team is pretty good.

@alaywa, i don't agree, i will happily pay the licence fee for what is overall the best public broadcasting service in the world by many miles. the licence fee brings benefits for the commercial operators as well but i won't bore you with the details. british TV as a whole would not be anywhere near as good without the licence fee.

however when it comes to motorcycle sport coverage the BBC are a bunch of f*ck-ups.

I have 2 words Euro...Sport!
Please return "OUR" MotoGP to the channel that will give it the correct and timely coverage, being Eurosport
Why try a force something that you clearly don't value above Marr and the interviews of questionable, question avoiding guests!

I think iPlayer is excellent and one of the best things to come out of the BBC for years if not ever (Credit where credit is due) But why should we be forced onto the computer to watch the race???
You have plenty of channels doing nothing at that time of the morning. Is it a small fine to turn one on!?

I dont doubt that the BBC has great "public" tv, but the rest of the world has moved beyonf "public" tv. The government should be concerned with essential services when they make it a laaaaaaaaaaaaaaw to pay for something, not sheer entertainment value!!! Otherwise they should also make public all movie cinimas and theatres and make us pay a tax for them also even though we may not attend! Roads yes, infrustructure yes, health care yes, defense yes, entertainment NO!
Most of the great stuff BBC produce anyways is also a result of private sales...like their documentaries and so forth. Even they have to admit the private sector format is better. The BBC are clinging to an ancient loophole!

And that old BBC argument that their news is unbiased therefore untainted by commecials and private interests, thats just a farse....the BBC has one central bias, that if the British government and British culture. You may wish to pay your tv tax in the belief they represent you and thats fine, but they are by no means unbiased. I only mention this cause you mention the world with respect to their level of production. For example the BBC fixation on zimbabwe bashing is far from unbiassed and can br critized as easily as those American news channels that rely on commercials. But from a Brit's perspective this might be missed, just as some yanks love their Fox!
